SAT Device Readiness

To take the SAT Weekend, you must download the Bluebook testing application on an approved device with the correct settings. You can run Bluebook on a Windows laptop or tablet, a Mac laptop, an iPad, or a school-managed Chromebook. You can’t run it on a personal Chromebook or mobile phone.

Download the app at least 30 days before test day so you have time to:

  • Practice using Bluebook on your testing device.
  • Find another device if your first choice doesn’t meet the requirements.
  • Ask for help at school. If you’re using a school-managed device at a school you don’t attend or at a test center, you probably won’t have the permissions you need to fix issues on test day, and neither will test day staff.

For in-school testing such as SAT School Day, your school will let you know how to prepare.

Tech Readiness

Review the following timeline and checklist before test day to ensure tech readiness:

As Soon As Possible: Download Bluebook on the device you're going to test with.

1–5 Days Before Your Test: Complete a quick exam setup. The application will download your test and generate your admission ticket, which you’ll need to be admitted to the test center.

Test Day Morning: Complete your final check. Close and reopen Bluebook, check for last-minute messages and updated test center information, and charge your battery.

Go to Prepare Your Device on the Bluebook website for the complete checklist.
