Getting Fee Waivers and Distributing to Students

All high schools with past fee waiver usage or new schools that recently received an Attending Institution (AI) code will automatically receive fee waiver codes for the SAT. To access electronic fee waiver codes, sign in to the K–12 score reporting portal.

The number of fee waiver codes given to your school is based on historical usage.

To request additional fee waivers for your school, call the SAT Educator Helpline at 888-SAT-HELP.

NEW for the 2025-26 School Year

We're updating our SAT Weekend fee waiver codes on August 14, 2025. When new fee waiver codes are distributed, all unused fee waiver codes provided to schools prior to mid-August will expire. You'll still be able to access the new fee waiver codes in your K–12 score reporting portal through the Downloads Center, and the new codes will begin with "FW25." Please be sure to provide updated fee waiver codes to all eligible students.

Distributing Fee Waivers to Students

There are two options:

  1. Counselors distribute fee waiver codes to students: SAT fee waiver codes are sent directly to schools through the K–12 score reporting portal. School counselors identify fee waiver–eligible students at their school and distribute a fee waiver code to them. Each code should be distributed to students one time in their high school career. Fee waiver codes can only be used once, but they cover the cost of two SAT administrations.
  2. Students request a fee waiver directly from College Board: Students can complete a fee waiver request form (available only to U.S. residents).

Students who have already tested with a fee waiver will automatically have their full set of fee waiver benefits in their College Board account.

Viewing Fee Waiver Benefits

Students with SAT fee waivers can sign in to their College Board account to view their current benefits and see what benefits they have left if they've:

  • Already used an SAT fee waiver.
  • Entered a 12-digit fee waiver code when registering for upcoming tests.
  • Been granted benefits through the fee waiver request form.
