PSAT 8/9 One-Time Supports

New in fall 2026, students taking the PSAT 8/9 who use accommodations and supports in their daily classwork and have an Individualized Education Program (IEP) or 504 Plan are eligible to request a One-Time Support from the test coordinator or SSD coordinator at the testing school. These supports are applied during registration and are outside of the SSD Online approval process. Parental or legal guardian approval is required to use One-Time Supports. Applying supports will have no impact on any current or future SSD Online accommodation requests.

Available supports:

  • Reading: Up to Time and One-Half (+50%)
  • Breaks: Extra
  • Small Group Testing
  • English Learner (EL): Up to Time and One-Half (+50%)
  • Text-to-Speech for Entire Digital Test (Embedded)

One-Time Supports are only applied for the registered testing window (they will not carry over to the next testing window). Students who require accommodations or supports on an ongoing basis should follow the standard process to submit a request through the SSD process at least seven weeks before testing.

FAQ

Am I eligible to use One-Time Supports?

PSAT 8/9 students who use the available supports in their regular classwork are eligible to use One-Time Supports. No SSD Online approval is required.

How do I request One-Time Supports?

Test coordinators and SSD coordinators can apply the supports during the registration period for fall and spring in-school testing. To request a support, talk to the test coordinator or the SSD coordinator at the school where you will be testing.

What documentation do I need to submit?

You do not need to submit any documentation to College Board to use a One-Time Support; however, students who request them should regularly use the support or accommodation in their daily classwork. Testing staff are required to obtain parental or legal guardian consent to apply the supports.

Can I request more than one One-Time Support?

You can request any or all of the supports listed above. Selected supports will only last for the testing window for which they were applied. Students who require ongoing College Board–approved accommodations should request them via the SSD Online process.

Can I use One-Time Supports with my other College Board–approved accommodations?

No, you may use College Board–approved accommodations or PSAT 8/9 One-Time Supports—not both. Applying a One-Time Support will waive all accommodations approved through SSD Online for that testing window. The approved accommodations will still be available for use in following testing windows and for other College Board programs.

When should I use a One-Time Support vs. requesting College Board–approved accommodations?

If you will be taking future College Board tests in your school and will require accommodations on an ongoing basis, it is best to request College Board–approved accommodations. Follow the standard process to submit a request through SSD Online at least seven weeks before testing.

If you are requesting accommodations for just one testing window or if the request deadline has passed, you may choose to use One-Time Supports.
