Helping Students Use Official SAT Practice

Implementation Strategies

There are three approaches to supporting students using Official SAT Practice:

  1. Independent Practice: Students practice individually or in study groups at home. Parent involvement is essential to encouraging independent practice.
  2. Extracurricular Practice: Students practice in study hall, after-school sessions, or with a community-based organization.
  3. Teacher-Guided Practice: Students practice in class, using Official SAT Practice as a learning tool. Teachers incorporate independent practice into the class period and answer student questions.

Districts or schools can decide which is the best approach—or use a combination of approaches—to implement Official SAT Practice at their school.

Personalized Practice

There are two ways students can get personalized practice to help them focus on what they need to work on most:

  1. Link accounts: Students can link their College Board and Khan Academy® accounts to send their scores from the SAT, PSAT/NMSQT, PSAT 10, or PSAT 8/9.
  2. Take diagnostic quizzes: If students don't have scores to share, they can take diagnostic quizzes.

Linking College Board and Khan Academy Accounts

  1. Send students to satpractice.org. They can create an account on Khan Academy or sign in to their existing account.
  2. When prompted, they should agree to link their Khan Academy and College Board accounts.
  3. Send their scores.

If you need help with the process, contact Customer Service.

Taking Diagnostic Quizzes

If students don't have scores to share, they can still get personalized practice at satpractice.org by taking a few short quizzes on the site.
