Changes for 2026-27 Testing

Student Experience

Changes to the Bluebook Experience

Beginning Fall 2026:

A new full-length PSAT/NMSQT and PSAT 10 practice test will be available in Bluebook in late summer.

New Calculator Functionality

Students will be able to expand images and resize the embedded calculator in the Math section.

Connections Available to More Students

Starting in 9th grade, students age 13+ who take the PSAT 8/9, PSAT 10, PSAT/NMSQT, or SAT School Day can opt in to Connections™ through the BigFuture School app, where available. Connections is an optional feature in the app that helps students learn about colleges and postsecondary programs that align with their interests, goals, and academic strengths.

Changes to Accommodations

Beginning Fall 2026

Students approved for text-to-speech or screen reader accommodations are required to bring wired headphones or wired earbuds. If testing under a state contract, defer to individual state policies.

Testing Staff Experience

Beginning Fall 2026

On-Time Ordering Deadline

College Board is implementing an on-time ordering deadline for the SAT Suite and removing "Order No Later Than" dates on the Readiness Tasks by Intended Testing Week table. Orders must be placed by the day before the testing window begins. Orders placed on or after the first day of the testing window will incur a 10% late fee. Late fees are based on how many tests are taken, not how many are ordered.

  • Fall on-time ordering deadline: September 30, 2026
  • Spring on-time ordering deadline: February 28, 2027

PSAT 8/9 One-Time Supports

During SSOR registration, One-Time Supports will be available for PSAT 8/9 students who use accommodations/supports in their daily classwork and have an IEP/504 Plan. These five supports can be applied by Test Coordinators and SSD Coordinators in SSOR without going through the SSD Online approval process. Parental or legal guardian approval is required to use One-Time Supports, and applying Supports will have no impact on any current or future SSD Online accommodation requests. Details will be available in staff training and manuals. One-Time Supports are currently not available for schools testing under state contracts.

Available supports:

  • Reading: Up to Time and One-Half (50%)
  • Breaks: Extra
  • Small Group Testing
  • EL—Up to Time and One-Half (50%)
  • Text-to-Speech for Entire Digital Test (Embedded)

Technical Requirements

These two changes are among the new requirements taking effect with the August administration of SAT Weekend:

  • Bluebook will work on Chromebooks only if verified mode is enabled. Instructions for IT staff are available at bluebook.org/verified-mode.
  • Bluebook will require Windows 11, as Microsoft no longer supports Windows 10.

A complete list of updated technical requirements will be available on the Bluebook website this summer.
